Frequently Asked Questions
What will the weather be like?
Late October brings crisp, clear autumn weather. Expect around 10–18°C by day in Tbilisi and Yerevan, and colder in the mountains, where Kazbegi can drop close to freezing at night. Rainfall is low, and the clear air gives the best chance of seeing Mount Kazbek and Mount Ararat. Pack warm layers.
Do Indian passport holders need a visa? What if I already have a US, UK or Schengen visa?
Yes, for both countries, and both are straightforward. Georgia and Armenia each offer an e-visa for Indian citizens. If you hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa, you can usually enter Georgia without a separate Georgian visa. We confirm the current rules after booking, and visa fees are included in your tour price.
Is airfare included? What does the price include?
International airfare is not included, so you can fly from the city that suits you. The price includes: hotels with daily breakfast; breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout; visa fees, transfers, excursions and entrance fees; travel insurance up to age 69. GST (5%) and TCS are extra.
How much walking is involved?
Gentle: 4–8 km a day at an unhurried pace. Some monastery approaches are cobbled and stepped. The ride up to Gergeti Trinity Church is by four-wheel drive, and walking up is optional. Most sightseeing is by private vehicle.
How big is the group?
Between 10 and 14 travellers.
Can I join as a solo traveller?
Absolutely. Many of our travellers come on their own. We can try to match you with a same-gender room-share, or you can book a room to yourself.
Is travel insurance included?
Yes, for travellers up to age 69. If you are 70 or older, we help you arrange separate cover.
Can you cater for vegetarian or Jain food?
Yes. Tell us your dietary needs when you book. Georgian and Armenian cooking has plenty of vegetarian dishes, and we brief our hotels and restaurants in advance.
Fitness Level
Moderate. Monastery approaches are cobbled, stepped and frequently steep, and Sevanavank sits at the top of a long staircase. Expect 4–8 km of walking a day. The final approach to Gergeti Trinity Church is by four-wheel drive; walking it is optional and takes around two hours uphill. Lake Sevan sits at roughly 1,900 m, which some travellers notice as mild breathlessness.
Weather Notes
Sep–Oct: 17–24°C in Tbilisi and Yerevan, considerably colder in the mountains and close to freezing at Gergeti. Low rainfall. The clear autumn air gives the best odds of a full view of Mount Kazbek and Mount Ararat, both of which summer haze often hides. A single day can span twenty degrees, so layers are essential.
